Good day everyone! It has been a while since my last post and while I have been focusing on playing piano lately I have most definitely not given up trading cards!
New website
I’m ready to present my new website, alltradingcards.info, to you! Its goal is not to replace this website but rather to enrich the set information part as I created a system which should allow easy entry of brand, set and card information. This way I hope to accomplish my goal of listing all trading card information on my website, from all trading cards, sports cards and entertainment cards combined.
The website can be divided in three levels of information. First of all you have brand pages, here brand information is listed as well as every released set for a brand. Second you have set pages, these are for now the most important pages as they show detailed card lists, rarity details, pull rates and print run data. Third you have card pages, these show images of the cards if publicly available and card details are also available.
First brand
The first brand I have added to my website is Sorcery: Contested Realm. It’s quickly becoming more popular because of its cool gameplay and great card design, as evident by a quick eBay search. Feel free to check it out on https://alltradingcards.info/sorcery-contested-realm/! I’m planning to add more recently released games soon.
Technology
I’ve had the idea for a website like this for quite a while already but never found time for it until my summer vacation that started two weeks ago. I decided to take on the challenge and see how much progress I could make and I’m proud to have practically finished the first version of the website now already. Of course several improvements are still possible, one of them being a search feature, but I feel that adding content is more important at first.
The most important components of the project are the website itself and the database. The website is built with the use of the Next.js framework and Material UI components and hosted on Vercel. The database is hosted on Supabase, which is a cloud-hosted PostgreSQL database and much more. It for example provides an easy-to-use API for communication and also a storage solution which I use for the brand, set and card images.
Currently all pages are statically generated which ensures that the site has optimal performance.
Conclusion
Feel free to check out alltradingcards.info and let me know what you would like to see added!
