It is time for another post in my Box Break category! This time I decided to open a box of Sorcery: Contested Realm after carefully calculating whether it could be worth it in my Sorcery: Contested Realm TCG Alpha Booster Box Expected Value post. And I was not disappointed!
As in my previous posts I will first show the hits and then discuss their value. If at any point you are interested in owning copies of these awesome cards, then be sure to check eBay for Sorcery: Contested Realm cards!
The hits
Box Topper Cards
Let’s start with the Box Topper Cards, these are are included in every Alpha Booster Box and are always the same. The Sorcerer and Winter River cards are foils.

Foils
Next up is the best part of Sorcery: Contested Realm! These foils are absolutely amazing, and with them appearing at a rate of 1 in 4 packs they are rare as well. The front is completely foil and the back shows the art in its full glory, absent of any text or card elements.

Uniques
The next best part are the Unique cards, these fall 1 in 5 packs and offer a good chance on obtaining the most powerful cards, some are even must-haves in the top decks!

Notable Elites
The last category is dedicated to the notable Elite cards, these stand out from other Elite cards in my opinion, either because they are very strong or because they are Avatar cards. Mix Terra is one such powerful card.

The value
This Alpha Booster Box cost me just over 730 euro, which wasn’t cheap by any means, but just the experience of opening made it half-way worth it!
Do you also want to join in on the fun? At the time of writing these boxes cost about $650-700 on eBay. You can check out this eBay search to view their current prices.

Elementalist | Elite | Non-Foil | $5 |
Elementalist | Elite | Non-Foil | $5 |
Sorcerer | Ordinary | Foil (Box-Topper) | $5 |
Totaling these numbers we get a value of $635, which comes close to the $650-700 range! The reason that my box cost just over 730 euro is that I’m from The Netherlands and buying in Europe is generally more expensive than buying within the United States. One also has to keep in mind that all other non-foil cards that were pulled from this box are not factored in, especially the Elites and Dual Sites have some value as well.
Conclusion
Overall I think I did quite well on this box and opening it was a fun experience! In terms of hits I missed out on the roughly 50% chance on a Unique Foil, but in return I did get four Elite Foils, which is way above the average of 1.5 per box! Apart from that this box was pretty average, but still fun nonetheless!
