I’m writing this post as an easy complete overview for the print run numbers of Flesh and Blood. Hopefully this will be a helpful source of information in general, and also when investing or buying boxes and cards from platforms like eBay.

Print run numbers

Legend Story Studios has not released the print numbers of all sets and releases yet, so we will have to make do with what is available. All data is taken from the Collector’s Centre. TBA literally means To Be Announced, so this information will be known at a later date, while TBD means To Be Determined, it is unsure what the exact difference between TBA and TBD is. I will try to update this article as soon as possible whenever new information becomes available, but you can always comment on this post or message me on Twitter or Instagram to notify me.

¹ The Ira Welcome Deck is printed in waves with the print run seemingly starting and finishing within one calendar month, the number of print runs seems theoretically unlimited however. More information about this can be found on the Ira Welcome Deck page.

² The Monarch and Tales of Aria pages have their print run sizes listed as ~ instead of TBA, which makes me unsure if they will ever publish those print run numbers.

³ All product until Outsiders is printed in English only, except for the Black Border print run of History Pack 1 and History Pack 2, those are printed in German, Spanish, Italian and French, as can be seen on the History Pack 1 and History Pack 2 pages.

Pull rates and estimated number of copies

I also calculated the estimated number of copies available for each set and rarity. Additional data like which cards are short-printed for example can be found at the Collector’s Centre.

The number of Fabled cards printed per set is also not known officially, as an estimate I’ll use 1:40 boxes as that seems to be a commonly accepted number, but nobody knows for sure, except Legend Story Studios themselves. More about this can be found at the bottom of this article.

So far print run numbers are known for most of the print runs of the first six sets. Estimated number of cards data is thus only available for those sets.

Another interesting fact about the Pull rate per card column is that it can be used to calculate how many packs on average need to be opened to obtain one complete play-set.

The Cold Foil pull rate for First Edition is 1:22 packs.

Another thing to notice is that Rainbow Foil heroes and some tokens are short-printed, more information about that is available on the Crucible of War page.

In addition to the above Crucible of War – Inside the Pack contains even more information about short-prints:

As much as possible, we try to make the frequency of each card within a rarity the same, or as close to the same as possible. A lot of planning goes into trying to achieve this, with consideration to the constraints of manufacturing – such as the fixed number of card slots on a print sheet, and how many different print sheets can co-exist.

In special circumstances we will intentionally short-print cards. This is mostly relevant when a “play set” of a card is less than 3. For example, equipment and cards with the keyword Legendary (You may only have 1 [NAME] in your deck.), are cards players typically want to own 1 copy of, rather than 3.

There are many majestic equipments in Crucible of War, as well as a very special card, Gorganian Tome (which has the keyword Legendary). To balance supply and demand for these cards, they have been intentionally short-printed, appearing slightly less than half as often as other majestics in Crucible of War.

Uprising

¹ From Uprising onward there will only be an Unlimited printing with the introduction of FAB 2.0. This also means that Fabled and Legendary cards now both have a Cold Foil (CF) and a Rainbow Foil (RF) print in the same boxes, with the former being significantly more rare. The same holds for other rarities but no explicit pull rates of those are known.

² Uprising also introduced a new Marvel rarity. Much about it is still unknown, they could land 1 in 2 boxes, but not enough data is available yet to confirm that. It also possible that the Legendary cards are harder to pull than others, but again not enough is known yet. Another interesting fact about Marvel cards is that they are all printed using the Cold Foil technique, which makes them even more desirable as a collector’s item.

³ According to the Uprising page some Majestic cards are short-printed (SP) and only feature 50% as often as other Majestic cards. There are 3 such short-printed cards, and 24 regular printed cards.

¹ According to the Dynasty page some Majestic cards are short-printed (SP) and only feature 50% as often as other Majestic cards, and some are extra short-printed (ESP) and only feature 33.4% as often as other Majestic cards. There are 2 such short-printed cards, 15 such extra short-printed cards, and 34 regular printed cards.

It is also worth noting that Surgical Extraction got unintentionally short-printed because of a mix-up with Regicide, both cards are Majestic cards. This means that Surgical Extraction appears 50% less often as others, and Regicide appears twice as often as others. For more information see this article from Flesh and Blood themselves.

Furthermore, this is the first set to feature an ultra rare card, in the form of Emperor, Dracai of Aesir in a Marvel rarity, at a pull rate of 1:10,000 packs. Check out this eBay search to find its current value.

There are 3 such short-printed cards, 6 such extra short-printed cards, and 22 regular printed cards.

With the release of the Outsiders set two changes have been made:

  • Booster sets will now be printed in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish languages.
  • Majestic cards now have an overall pull rate of 1:5 packs, instead of the prior rate of 1:4 packs.

With the release of the Dusk till Dawn set two changes have been made:

  • Serialized artist sketch cards have been added. Only 10 unique copies of Prism, Sculptor of Arc Light and Chane, Bound by Shadow are available in the entire print run.
  • Majestic cards again have an overall pull rate of 1:4 packs.

Rainbow Foil pull rates

Unfortunately there are no official Rainbow Foil pull rates available so I can’t calculate exactly how many cards there are out there. There are some rumors that they may be ten times as rare as their regular counterparts, that would make Majestic Rainbow Foil cards have a 1:120 pack pull rate in Welcome to Rathe – Alpha and Arcane Rising – First and a single card would only have 334 copies making them more rare than a Fabled Cold Foil!

Fabled pull rates

Lastly I want to get back to the Fabled pull rates once more. The community consensus seems to be 1 in 40 boxes, but is that correct? What more do we know?

State of the Market: May 2022 mentions something interesting. It is a direct quote by James White, the CEO and founder of Legend Story Studio.

Well, there are half as many Alpha Hearts in circulation as Alpha Lotus’s… with the help of wonderful folk like yourself spreading the word that FAB is a great game, who knows where it ends up! Creating a new classic collectable is absolutely what we are aiming for!

The accepted number of copies for Rare cards from the Alpha set of Magic the Gathering was at the time of the quote 1,100 cards. That would make it 550 copies of Heart of Fyendal, the Fabled card of Welcome to Rathe.

That means it is significantly more than the estimated 418 copies based on the 1 in 40 boxes pull rate.

I’ll be sure to update this article whenever more information about that becomes available! Meanwhile you may consider liking this post or subscribing to my newsletter on the Home page, or following one of my social media channels like Twitter or Instagram.

  1. Nice work, could you work on including the RF version prints numbers, thanks

    1. Thank you for reading my article! I did just include a section about Rainbow Foils, unfortunately I can’t give estimates because there is no official print run data available. If it ever becomes available then I’ll be sure to update my article!
