In this new, frequently appearing Roundup category, I want to spend some time detailing the most expensive eBay sales in various collectibles categories. This time I will focus on Week 22, 2023. Hopefully you find this article informative, entertaining, or useful in any other way!

Pokemon Rayquaza Gold Star PSA 10
This amazing Rayquaza sold for a stunning $48,598. Check out the eBay listing here!
Rayquaza is one of the most popular Pokemon Gold Star cards. One of 25 Gold Star cards that can be found in regular sets. What’s more is that it being from 2005 means that it can still be found in collections these days! Of course they are getting rarer and rarer and the PSA 10 premium is very high, but you can still find played copies every now and then.
1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 2
Several Mickey Mantle Rookie Cards have sold in Week 22, this copy has realized an amazing $42,650. Check out the eBay listing here.
The 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 card is arguably the most iconic of all Mickey Mantle Rookie Cards and a true must-have for any high-end sports card collector. Prices are steep however, and even more so when you want an even higher grade!
PSA data shows that only 1,904 copies of this card have been graded, and of them only 283 copies have been awarded a PSA 6 or higher. That also explains why prices are starting at $300,000 for PSA 6 copies, all the way up to 3 million US dollars for PSA 9 copies!
1998 Skybox E-X2001 Ken Griffey Jr. PSA 10
This Ken Griffey Jr. card has sold for a very nice $33,433. Check out the eBay listing here.
With the card deriving its existence from the popular 1998 Skybox E-X2001 set it is no surprise that it managed to fetch a high price. In particular, this card is the Essential Credentials Future parallel of Ken Griffey Jr. and only 101 parallel copies of each of the 101 available players have been made.
Furthermore, the design of this card is also unique with its different acetate layers. Unfortunately it does mean that these cards do have a tendency to “yellow” over time and that’s why this production method is not really used anymore today.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 9.2
This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book has sold for a very nice $21,320. Check out the eBay listing here.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 is the very first comic book issue produced of TMNT. This copy is extra valuable because it is 1st Print, so it really is the very TMNT comic book to be printed, ever. More information on the first release can be found here.
CGC does use a different grading scale compared to PSA. A CGC 9.2 for comic books translates to roughly a PSA 6.5 for cards. With that knowledge one can see that this comic book has received a nice grade, but an even minter copy could fetch much more! A CGC 9.6 copy has recently been sold for almost $49,000 for example!
Disney Lorcana D23 Expo Collector’s Set PSA 10
This almost complete Disney Lorcana D23 Expo Collector’s Set sold for an amazing $19,999! Check out the eBay listing here.
These cards could exclusively be bought physically at the D23 Expo in 2022, for just $50! This was announced just one day before the start of the D23 Expo. More information can be found here and here.
Ever since the D23 Expo prices of these cards have been rising steadily, with no one knowing where they will end. And with Disney Lorcana‘s first set scheduled for release on August 18, 2023 popularity will soon be at an all-time high!
Final words
There are many more high-end collectibles sales in Week 22 I would have liked to talk about, but this article has to come to an end at some point.
I think this selection of five sales gives some cool insight to the market of Week 22. I have also tried not to include any listings which look shady in any way, be it shilling, fake sales, etc. Hopefully you like this article as well!
